This seems to be the year that everyone is discussing politics. Even my Generation X peers are starting to become interested in the political system we have managed to ignore for most of our lives. With my grandfather a left-wing Democrat and my father a right-wing Republican, politics have always had a lively debate around major elections, at Sunday lunches, and at family birthdays in between. Papa (what we call my grandfather) has been growing toward a Christian faith the last few years, but politics has defiantly been something which has hardened is heart against the Lord. He seems to think that all Christians are Republicans. I have been unsuccessfully trying to convince him that this is not true, but it is hard when he really doesn't know any Christians who aren't Republicans. I personally find both political parties dissatisfying, and the rhetoric I hear coming from the "Conservative Christian" rather nauseating. We have been discussing politics in Sunday school the last few weeks. Someone showed this video off of YouTube last week. I wasn't there so I just watched it today. Gregory Boyd, the author of The Myth of a Christian Nation, was able to articulate what I have been thinking for sometime. Please watch these videos and see what you think. It may not sit well with everyone but it sure is interesting!

Love it, Love it, Love it!!!
Brooke! Jill started us on some political topics Easter Sunday, and after she got everyone riled up, she muttered under her breath "Where's Brooke when you need her?" We missed you.
